This is an exciting news for Dragon Ball fans who like fighting games, Bandai Namco teams up with Arc System Works (creator of Guilty Gear and Blaze Blue series) to bring us a Dragon Ball 2.5 D fighter – Dragon Ball FighterZ.

The game features three-on-three battles, insane high-speed duel and projectiles and energy beams. I really looking forward to more details of the game system.

Play All Resident Evil Games On The Current-Gen Platforms… Almost

The Resident Evil franchise has been with us for 21 years since its first launched in 1996 on the original PlayStation console, and become a pioneer of the survival horror genre, also the first to path out the trend of zombie killing in video games

* Note: the “All RE games” means only under the genre of survival horror; rail shooter like the Chronicle series, Gun Survivor series, and Umbrella Corps will not be included.

Through out the 21 years, the sequels and spins-off for the Resident Evil saga were not only further developing the story, but also evolving the gameplay experience. Even though when a new sequel released, developer Capcom has also done a good job reminding both fans and new comers of the roots of the Resident Evil franchise by RE-releasing or RE-mastering the previous games to the current-gen platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC/Steam); digitally and physically (on disc).

The Resident Evil games has been re-released for countless times, from console to console, console to PC, even to mobile devices; some direct ported; some remastered in High Definition. When the time that consoles were able to connect to the internet and running their own networks/stores, the distribution of classics/remastered of the games was even easier.

For the current-gen platforms, CAPCOM ALMOST re-releases all Resident Evil games except a few. Let me crank out the list: (just the current-gen platforms)

  1. Resident Evil Zero HD remaster (PS4, XB1, PC)
  2. Resident Evil HD remaster (PS4, XB1, PC)
  3. Resident Evil 2 remaster (Coming soon)
  4. Resident Evil 4 (PS4, XB1, PC)
  5. Resident Evil 5 (PS4, XB1, PC)
  6. Resident Evil 6 (PS4, XB1, PC)
  7. Resident Evil Revelations (PC; coming soon for PS4 & XB1)
  8. Resident Evil Revelations 2 (PS4, XB1, PC)
  9. Resident Evil 7 (PS4, XB1, PC)
  10. Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (PS4 – Digital only)

The recent release of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X on the PSN is just a PS2 classic, the game only run 30 fps with no graphical upgrade; but it looks way better than running a physical PS2 version on a modern LCD TV. Current only available on US and European PSN, hopefully it will release in other region as well; and since it is a PS2 emulation, so no physical disc, bad news for collector.

The rest not in the list but possible:

  1. Resident Evil 3
  2. Resident Evil Outbreak

So we have two potential Resident Evil games are not available yet in remastered for the current-gen platform, Resident Evil 2 remaster is currently under development, hopefully Resident Evil 3 will receive the same treatment in the future as well. I see Resident Evil Outbreak as a hidden gem, considered the first online multiplayer co-op Resident Evil game of the time, using PS2 online capability. It wasn’t perfect, but it had its awesomeness. Some fans are still playing this game online using the emulated version of the game and custom servers. So hopefully Capcom will revive this as well.

Pray to CAPCOM to remake Resident Evil 3 Nemesis as well to complete the collection!
Does Resident Evil Outbreak worth to make a return?

Base on the long list,  I think the current-gen platforms (especially the PlayStation 4) is a best place to collect Resident Evil games, at least most of them; unless you prefer the original versions then you need to go back to last-gen console like the PS3 and purchase the PS One classic from PSN. And most of them have physical copy available, good for collection as well. As for the left-out, I do hope CAPCOM will at least consider remaking Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, then the collection will complete.

Street Fighter V – Ed Reveal Trailer

Street Fighter V – Ed Reveal Trailer

The third SFV season 2 DLC characters – Ed was announced, a Psycho power enhanced young Shadaloo commander. Mentored by Balrog (boxer) and M. Bison’s gene enhanced to wield Psycho power. His story as follow:

At a young age, Ed was kidnapped and experimented on by S.I.N., a division of Shadaloo, in order to become a replacement body for M. Bison. Many of you might remember a young Ed appearing in Rose’s Street Fighter IV story and Balrog’s story in Super Street Fighter IV. Due to the experiments, Ed’s body ages faster than normal humans until they are old enough to be suited for battle. Since Balrog raised Ed, his fighting is centered on boxing but since he carries M. Bison’s genes, his fighting style is enhanced by Psycho Power.

Night after night he is troubled by Bison’s ghost, and struggles desperately to prevent M. Bison from possessing his body. Be sure to check out his character story to find out more!

Ed and all previously released characters will be playable for all Capcom Fighters Network beta test participants coming 11th – 14th May for both PlayStation 4 and PC versions of SFV.

Call of Duty: WWII Official Reveal Trailer

Call of Duty: WWII Official Reveal Trailer

I have been skipping quite a lot of COD games for many years, since the franchise is an annual thingy in the FPS genre; first off I’m not a big fan of multiplayer shooter, but I love campaign mode, with its dramatic story telling and gameplay. However ever since the franchise got away from WWII and got itself into a overly “modern” warfare; things not as what I’m expecting to be. So all the “modern-COD” titles from the past few years, I simply “MEH” over it.

This coming Call of Duty: WWII announcement, it seems trigger my fancy once again. Equipped with the latest graphic / game engine, COD:WWII will be elevated to a new level… *finger crossed*. Probably the developer got “inspired” by the Battlefield 1 last year, which is in WWI setting.

I’m looking forward to this new COD which returning to its original roots. Call of Duty: WWII will be released on 3 November 2017 for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
